Already read the link Bo-4, now read what I'm about to say very carefully, the poll predictions of a Clinton win were wrong (obviously). They based their predictions on faulty data, the national popular vote. The POTUS is not elected by the national popular vote, but by the state wide popular votes, which decide the electors for said states.

Exactly. Near the election they had the popular vote numbers fairly accurate. They assumed that Hillary would win those rust belt sates and have a huge win.

The poll found Trump with 39 percent support among registered voters in head-to-head matchups against Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). The poll found Sanders beating Trump with 48 percent, Warren winning over Trump with 45 percent and Harris winning with 46 percent support.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, meanwhile, beat Trump in the theoretical matchup with 50 percent support among those surveyed, compared to Trump's 38 percent.
