Of course you would think that, everyone that doesnt have any knowledge or understanding of what it takes to protect the public has the same myopic view. Police put up with cluelessness all the time, they ignore it and do whatever they are going to do

I don't want to crush civil liberties of law abiding citizens because we have a subset criminal class. If the cops have problems with certain areas deputize some citizens to root them out.

Law enforcement agencies often have a contract for x number of dollars. they get paid for that contract, if not, the unions step in. I'm not against LEO trying to keep themselves safe on the job. But to use civil forfeiture as a means to reinforcing themselves seems unethical to me.
How much cash is removed on the road from accusations of it being used in drug deals? When, the fact of the matter, their own cash can't pass the sniff test, and will refuse to allow it because they know that their cash, fresh from the bank, can fail a sniff test. But it is used to secure someone's cash on a random stop.
I'm not even hinting that they are dirty, and most aren't. But it is a toll used to seize cash roadside. It is damned difficult to get it back.
That is why I am against roadside stop and seizures. The innocent must spend enormous amounts of cash to get it back and PROVE they aren't guilty of anything.
It's a bullsh!t ploy used for policing for profit. And you cannot deny it happens. When the cops become highwaymen, there is no defense.

Feds (who specialize in theft and overspend) want reimbursement for $70K car

The federal government previously approved the purchase, which used asset forfeiture funds, but are now questioning if the Hellcat is being used for its stated purpose.
So much to unpack here. See it or don't.
    You are wrong about police.

Helena there is no doubt whatsover that all govt agencies from the Fed to local govts at times misappropriate, steal, connive and misuse taxpayer funds.

So do Political campaigns, Senators and representatives at Federal and state and local level of both parties.

STEALING and misappropriating is as a part of the govt as hotdogs are to ballparks.

Thats not the issue here, the issue and gist of your thread was that Police should not have bought an armored vehicle.
I demonstrated to you that there are needs for armored vehicles and in the past Police have called in the national guard.

Did you know there are Prison systems that have armored personel carriers to bring officers inside safely during riots to quell it and save lives ?

I guess some people believe they want the armored vehicle to mow down houses and run over people. There are actually legitimate purposes for it. Not ALL police depts need one of course, most do not.

Yes, frequently cops ignore the public and do whatever they want.

    That would be the problem.

These vehicles are used for bombs, for groups of armed individuals and other such situations to get swat teams into a positon to defend or assault safely to protect the public.

I know full well your disdain for police and I fully realize you wont accept any explanation I could give

Citizens have a right to to keep themselves safe from police and if an armored vehicle would save the day, the local militia should have access to as many as they need or want to uphold and preserve their rights against tyranny.
