I guess that was my point. Political parties were never a part of it. I guess it really matters to me when it comes to voting. If there was never intent for parties, in our voting system it kind of upsets the founders ideals... I guess that is kind of my line of thinking.

Upside down thinking. They are not Unconstitutional. Freedom to gather together is a right. First amendment. We assemble peacefully to petition the government. How we assemble isn't mentioned or restricted.

Government at various levels - and the exact proportion of the cost borne by a given level varies from state to state - pays, with taxpayer money, for the entire process.

The nonpartisan Independent Voters Project estimated the cost of all party primaries in the U.S. in 2012 at $400 million.

The inmates really are running the asylum and then paying themselves with our money. Some believe that publicly funded campaigns are the way to go, eliminating the influence for sale nature of Washington. If it ever happens I would hope that only a fraction of what is currently spent would be provided and several parties would be equally funded. It might require an amendment but the bigger problem is that it would put even more control in their hands.
