Trump cancels Denmark visit amid spat over sale of Greenland

President Trump has cancelled his planned trip to Denmark after being told by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen that Greenland was not for sale.

"The president was scheduled to visit on 2 September, at the invitation of Denmark's Queen Margrethe II.
Then last week Mr Trump suggested the US was interested in buying Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory.
Danish PM Mette Frederiksen described the suggestion as "absurd" and said she hoped Mr Trump was not being serious."

A White House spokesman confirmed the cancellation and had no further comment.


I'm guessing the White House aides are huddled in a corner try to figure out how to respond to this latest move by the erratic-thinking president.

If business keeps going well , I'll be looking for some more investments . That Trump Tower in New York looks interesting (although I'd have to see the books to make sure it's turning a profit) ....maybe a nice golf resort down around Florida ? ......is Hawaii on the market ?

I understand what Trump did and I think it is silly. But this sort of thing fires up his base. In a nutshell, Trump is telling Denmark that their are consequences to "attacking" the US- in this case the way they reacted to the buy Greenland tweet.

A smart response would have expressed some sort of desire to not make the same stupid mistakes made in 2016.

It didn't "fire me up", but it did make me go "huh" bigly, and I still can't wrap my head around it. But it isn't silly at all.

I have never in my life witnessed such truly original thinking outside the box by a politician -- totally acceptable, inspirational thinking on a yuge scale. I think Trump should be congratulated. Daily.

That is a great president.
