Dogs don't differentiate by race, but they can often pick up on bad intentions.

I briefly lived in the south when I was young and often visited there. It was common to be told by dog owners that dogs don't like black people. Some even said it was due to a specific smell.
What it was due to was a racist dog OWNER.

BS. My son has a dog that clearly DOES NOT LIKE black people. Is my son racist? Nope.

That's anecdotal, of course. However, it is NOT unheard of that a lot of dogs clearly sense and smell something unfamiliar in different people and react negatively.
