My diet is keto-like. I shifted about three months ago. I eat fatty cuts of beef, poultry, and a couple of thick salmon cuts weekly. I put coconut oil in my coffee. I eat no added sugars, almost no honey or molassas. I have cut down on non-fleshy fruits. I eat plenty of spinach and other leafy vegetables. I eat plenty of walnuts, pecans and almonds. I still eat cheese and drink some lactose-free milk.

I walk 6-10k steps daily. I do very light strength training (I have a squat machine and also do pull-downs).

Carbs are basically my enemy at this point.

I do implement the OMAD and intermittent fasting as well.

I belong to several different Keto forums and all of the transformation pics are downright astounding.

I honestly haven't found the keto diet to be hard to stick to ( I'm not the world's most disciplined person).. It can get pricey if you want more variety in the foods you eat. Eating more protein doesn't necessarily kick you out of keto. AND, the cool thing is, it doesn't take very long at all to get ketosis to kick back in.

For maintenance, I do lazy keto and it works just fine.
    Thanks

A consistent theme in reviews appears to an earlier than expected onset of fatigue during intense exercise. That's a big negative, IMO. Not sure I want to bother. Another consistent theme, perhaps the most consistent of all, is that it's very difficult to follow the rules as Helena and Ade touched on.

Why do you feel the need to follow the rules? Do as much of it as you like. No one is keeping score.

The most important reason for following the keto or keto-like diet is brain health.

No, I mean to enter and stay in what they call "ketosis". Apparently, you can screw it up very easily.

They seem to be similar to the criticisms of low carb diets in general. Frankly, significant weight loss more than makes up for whatever negatives are associated with the diet at least in the short term. IMO, it's a net positive.

You are not a candidate for Keto. You weigh a buck fifty. You need carbs for your endurance workout. You don't need to lose weight. The question is whether you want to gain it- muscle not fat.

Yes. One slip can take you out.

Question: what do you need keatosis for? There is no magic in it for health. Obese people are advise to try it.

I don't. I kind of get into this stuff so I considered trying it for a few weeks but it doesn't look good for me.
