The first signs of fall already in the air

An odd falling leaf, 48 degree night last night, an occasional high that doesn't hit 70 and of course the pace of days shortening has started to hasten.
For my friend in Florida, although the temps are vastly different the implications are different too. For them, sure they'll miss the daylight but they will not miss the daily sauna that is summer in Florida.
For us , despite actually enjoying the early fall and being ready for some football, it means that snow and ice and below zero temps, heating bills and shoveling are on the way. It gets tougher every year but we have no choice for a couple more years.

So what about you what do the early signs of fall mean to you?

It was significantly cooler the past two days. A definite chill in the air. Last year I lamented the fact that I didn't see or hear geese traveling south. This morning I saw and heard them. It was a thrill again.

Everyone is getting excited! Who doesn't love Autumn?

I could do without Spring and Summer. .. Or at least so much of them. If I got a good hot day with a nice cool root beer float, that would do it for Summer. Move along now. Spring just means Summer is coming. Bleh.

Fall is my favorite time of year, and like you, the shorter days are already signalling its arrival. I walk my dogs just before dawn most days so we can watch the sunrise overlooking the Smoky Valley (Kansas), and I've been leaving later and later. The temps are moderating downward a bit as well. July brought us triple digits but August has been mostly lower 90s and now, mid- and lower-80s.

I love the colors of fall and the softness of the Autumn air. I love the sound of leaves rustling and the thought of snuggling beneath a feather comforter when the temps turn chilly. Not a football fan, so you'll have to enjoy that one yourself, but fall brings with it a feeling of family and togetherness.

Wait -- what's the matter with me? Family and togetherness always erupts into trouble.

I have been noticing it too. Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year. I love love love fall.
We are all brothers and sisters in humanity. We are all made from the same dust of stars. We cannot be separated because all life is interconnected.
