    The lives we've lived

It seems many people spend so much time looking towards tomorrow rather than this moment. We can spend our entire lives chasing a tomorrow, that never comes. We live our lives with one plan after another, one goal after the next. Then one day it hits us "crap" that was my life. LoL.

Many people are running, thinking I will be happy when. But that when never comes. To our last day we chase that when. It is vitally important to realize that today is all there is. This moment is the only chance I have to really live. Once it is gone it's gone.

We are spending time. What a powerful statement. How will we choose to "spend" this time?

Yeah, that's a concept that I've contemplated a lot in life - later though.

Seems like the first half of my life was living towards goals, constantly. Reaching them usually at some point but always something else to achieve after that. Then at some point it hit me - what the $#@! is this all about? I'm always working toward something, when do I get to enjoy it and be content.

A lot of things about my thought process changed somewhat recently, like this and other things. I stopped being a robot, I think about things now and I'm much more content with a lot of things because of that.

It's like being honest with yourself.

That's awesome Captain, and so true. It seems to me that when we just go through life haphazardly and not paying attention, every day feels like a waste. But when you really live them deeply and appreciate them, each day becomes something precious.

I wake up about 4 0r 5 A.M. every morning, because I am so thrilled it is a new day!

I can't wait for the new day!

I can empathize. I had a very similar experience.

I love waking up early in the AM. My favorite is going to sleep early and waking up around 2AM. That is when I am happiest. I love having some night time and being able to see the stars and the quiet peacefulness of night. But, still having the day.

I think most people who are capable of getting it do at some point. It took me longer in life to get it but I think I did. I know I don't get everything also, I'm self-aware of that and it's a basis of my thought process now.

If you think you "get it" you probably don't.

Life has the ability to throw your best laid plans into a massive kink. When this year my wife of 48 years passed all my life become a giant question. It's all out the window, I live almost like a robot with no plans, no dreams. I exist....
Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I digress....

I love sleeping in. I also love me time. I used be so worried about how much money I made and respectability (in the bourgeois sense). It made me anxious and I always felt inadequate. After I bought my home I started to realize that I have a life that suits me well. My priorities were conflicted and confused. I stopped trying to be someone I'm not. Wish I had done that much earlier.

I wish I had come to that point earlier but better late than never.
