China has been selling cheap knock off crap forever. Rolex Corporation started a division with hired retired Police Detectives and supervisors to fight the knock off rolex epidemic in the 90s.

China was able to make fake rolexs that copied the famous rolex second hand movement. It moves steadily around the dial, where all other watchs moved tic tic tic tic tic. Everyone buying rolexs always looked at the second hand first to confirm legitimacy, hence they were flooding the US with them

A non cop friend of mine bought one for 25 bucks, I said why did you buy that garbage, he said the ladies have no clue its not legit. Back then strippers in the clubs used to look at your watch to see if it was expensive or not

I see official NFL jersey’s selling for close to $400.00. If someone can purchase one on line which appears to be the same quality for $50.00, they’re going to do it. I don’t know how you can stop it.

    Whoopsie.
After deciding to whack "Made In China" tags off Trump 2020 hats at the Delaware State Fair, the state Republican Party vows all its merchandise will be American-made from now on.
The red hats, made to resemble President Donald Trump's iconic Make America Great Again hats, defied Trump's focus on American-made goods. He's also battling China with tariffs and imports in a trade war.
The state GOP didn't realize the hats were made in China until a fairgoer alerted volunteers, said Delaware GOP Chair Jane Brady. The volunteers decided to minimize political fallout by snipping out the tell-tale tags.

Sports merchandise is only a fraction of the illegal counterfeiting industry as well. Counterfeit goods account for nearly $500 billion annually in trade, and Chinese companies are the biggest offender, producing 80% of these counterfeit goods. Meanwhile, Americans are the biggest consumer, buying about 60% to 80%.....snip~

Now lets see if you can comprehend what intellectual property is about and why counterfeit goods is a problem with the Chinese.
What does that say about the American buying public? A) they often can't afford the pricey but still Chinese made branded merchandise and B) all they care about is the look of the item. The patterns and designs for those knockoff NFL Jerseys are probably coming from the factories producing them for the NFL in China! There is no way those polyester or nylon jerseys are actually worth $89. It's at least 75% markup, probably more. Don't worry, there are enough people buying the branded merchandise that these knockoffs are not cutting into their business, because the people buying the knockoffs won't pay $89 for a stupid jersey.

Friday is jersey day at work. I can't believe how many people participate. I've never owned a jersey.

You mean like that Americans like to buy cheap $#@!. See it break and have to spend twice the amount of money than what was needed to. Have you ever thought who makes up that majority? Tell us how it is conservatives.

So you don't think copyright infringement is taking place.

Are you like the rest of our resident leftness and our trailer park Captain thinking its okay for China to steal intellectual property? To have all kinds of trade restrictions when dealing with the US?

How do we set the Chinese straight?

People buy what they can afford. I don't see sports paraphernalia as "intellectual" property. Its made of fabric that's available to anyone who makes sports wear. The only thing that they are really copying is the team logos. When it comes to clothing, it's very difficult to stop people from copying the designs.

Intellectual property is another thing entirely. I don't approve of that kind of theft.

Probably 90% of high schools have copied pro sports teams' logos.
