Republicans to scrap primaries and caucuses as Trump challengers cry foul

If this is true, then I think it's really lousy of the republican party to scrap the primaries and caucuses in the four states. If Trump is in such good shape poll-wise, as he claims, then what are they worried about? If I were a republican in those states, I'd make a stink with republican officials over this.

Four states are poised to cancel their 2020 GOP presidential primaries and caucuses, a move that would cut off oxygen to Donald Trump’s long-shot primary challengers.
Republican parties in South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Kansas are expected to finalize the cancellations in meetings this weekend, according to three GOP officials who are familiar with the plans.

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

It's not unheard of, but usually its because there are no challengers.

When will people realize the two party system is corrupt?

Vote 3rd party or don't vote at all.

I think we have a point of agreement here, but for different reasons.

In 2016 there were 16 other contenders, but Trump was the only one to make illegal immigration an issue.
The rest of them were happy with ignoring it.
Trump was the only one to face down China and the rest were content with letting things continue to go down the drain.

Though i do not like him personally, I will vote for him again if he keeps his tough stance and keeps taking action on these issues.

...but as for the OP's thread, I think they are dumb by doing this.

I, too, think it's dumb to scrap the primaries. It's not right, but I also agree with a number of other points you made. Trump is not a likeable person -- I would not want to spend time with him, or even meet him, but I'll probably vote for him next year. He addresses things like illegal immigration in a crude, abrupt manner, but at least he addresses it. My vote, however, will likely be based mostly on his opposition to industrial wind farms that are raping skylines, slaughtering raptors, and destroying property values -- all on the taxpayer's dime.

Why? If there are no challengers why should either party waste money for nothing but a show? The conventions could be the forum for putting forth the "platform" of the various candidates. Primaries didn't even really start until the early 20th century. We think because we are doing it now we have always done it that way. Primaries only give the news media something to write about when we aren't having hurricanes.

If there is a serious challenger you'd have a point, but there isn't. Do Weld and Walsh even garner a percentage point of support between them ?? Why should state parties waste money on primary elections when they could spend their funds on the Repub. down ticket candidates in their state ??
