unless it is an ELE, I'm prepared. However, @Hoosier8 gave me food for thought. I really need to get a propane powered generator as well as regular gasoline powered gennies out here. Otherwise, I'm more prepared than some and not as well prepared as others.
I have two gas powered gennies and 30 gals of gas I keep on hand.

When I lived in Lake Havasu City I had a "Prepper" neighbor. He confided that he had thrown out over $500 worth of out of date food products. By now I guess he has had to do that again since I moved from LHC in 2001.
Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I digress....

There are so many things that can happen in life.
Naturally you can prepare for all of these , but are you prepared for any emergency situation even the smaller one how long can you surive with no income or supermarket.

For me the biggest danger is a hurricane.
Thats the biggest danger to me living in fl.
Im fairly well prepared for a economic emergency also and riots and looting.these are issues I see as the simpler ones to prepare for in life with common sense and limited resorces that I can prepare for
Im not very prepared for anything beyond a few days inconvenience. Im very much in the moment. Thats not a good thing. Im a procrastinator

Az thats poor food rotation and mangament.
I do have a few freeze dried meals and a few mre on hand but not much I use most of that when camping so there a rotation every 5 years or so I replace it as used .
Out of date foods are usually dated best by date not actual shelf life items like spam are good for years 5 at least perhaps many more years but I dont horde spam I make ocassional sandwichs out of it with fresh sourdough bread and cheese or fried for breakfast . again replacing it as I use it.rice is good for decades 8f stored properly.
500.00 dollars of food if properly stocked and rotated could last a couple months

My generator is wired into the house through the breaker box and can run off either natural gas or propane. Power goes off and it switches on automatically running on the home natural gas supply. The power is never off at Casa Crepitus.

I’m totally prepared. I have ten copies of Hustler and a book on basket weaving. I’ll totally weave myself some tasty food and trade that for more Hustlers.

The whole concept of prepping is kind of silly on the mainstream sense.

Being prepared for natural disasters like having enough food and fresh water and some ammo to protect yourself and your loved ones, yeah, that makes sense. Having gas and a generator and enough food and water in supply and/or the ability to convert to potable water for a month or so isn't silly at all.

What's silly is stockpiling a basement full of ammo and guns and buckets of dried whatever in case of armageddon. At that point what's the point? Someone, like the thousands or millions of others who want your resources and are more equipped to take them will just do so. You're just stockpiling for them.

In a major SHTF you need to be practical, resourceful and ready enough to produce or gather the resources you need for the longer run. Sitting in a bunker eating dried whatever for the next year is just fear tactics from the soldier of fortune outfits trying to sell you junk you'll never use.

There are a lot of strategies to this outside of stockpiling. Gathering wood for fuel, first aid, salvage, sustainability, rationing, obtaining new resources.

Just throwing money and stockpiling isn't prepping, being able to survive, think, cooperate are I think key abilities that will serve better. Common sense, not a lot of people have it so they stockpile.
    my junk is ugly
