It's very hot. It's right on the cusp of being unpleasant.

I tried last year. It didn't turn out well. This year I'm just chopping fresh peppers and adding them to my eggs.

Thats even better. When i lived in wv I was 60 mikes from a wallmart over mountains. We had cattle chickens etc and 2 gardens aspargas patchs fruit trees. And a strawberry patch . we canned everything from meats to veggies to fruit and jams had a root celler for potatoes and swuash . we were pretty poor back then and I had a family of 5 so taking advantage of help land and natural resources such as wood for heat we did ok .

I like omlets a lot and where I live in fl im within 5 minof a earth fare a publix and wallmart and freash veggies id never seen growing up. I love vidilla onions green peppers and varioys hot peppers a tad of spinish and cheese in my omlets and between publix and earth fare i cannget good tomatoes even heirloom. And mo need to make my own hot sauses which aI do miss.

I would use roma tomatoes skin removed and run in a food processor viniger a lityle smoked salt a tad of lemmon juice a tad of sugar and thenaid choose the peppers . I always used some ripe red peppers peeled and rbrocessed in a blinder and then ass my hot peppers i perfered cayane but any hot pepper would do. While this was c9oking down I would bake flower in the oven till it turned brown this changes its flavor this was added to thicken the sause. After getting the consistency I wanted and tweeked the taste into some small jelly jars and a pressure cooking for canning usually 2 or 3 small cans along with what ever I could fit such as anything I had on hand that needed presdure canned

I don't mind the heat, I just don't particularly like the taste of that pepper.

    Damb right!

In another life I used to carry one small bottle each of Texas Pete and Soy sauce.
    Pretty much made everything edible.

Realistically, and statistically, NONE OF US will survive a protracted firefight if we stay put and "duke it out' like in the movies and books.
That fantasy is used to sell preppers stuff other people will use after they die.

Unass the area, then come back, if it is just you.

I will never understand why modern preppers refuse to organize locally.
I think it is because they don't really believe in an apocalyptic situation in the first place.

You and I don't either, but you can sure get hungry and uncomfortable in 30 days or less without being prepared.
