Well, I read that as clever anti-gun rhetoric because Democrats would see that as one third of Americans will get their asses kicked if we just keep hammering away at the gun control theme. But it's wrong for being such oversimplified pab.

Maybe I misunderstood you, but in no way was my post Anti gun, he claimed that Trump was alienating 98% of Americans, I pointed out that 30% say they own a gun so chances are that those 30% are not against what Trump was saying, rather they would be against the Dems Gun Grab plan.
I did not get any data from CNN, the data was from a gallup poll that they conduct every year, it also shows that about 43% of households have guns in the US. It also acknowledges that many gun owners do not claim gun ownership so that the numbers could be higher
