Ankle tackle = roughing? Time to get a new fall hobby!

Now it's going below the knees , mandatory.

I can understand protecting a QB’s knees. He’s pretty vulnerable while in the act of throwing the ball or right after the throw was completed.

Some of these rules protecting a QB are ridiculous and inconsistently enforced, but others are appropriate.

I agree that the "targeting" call is out of control and inconsistent. However, I've never seen anyone called for unecessary roughness for making an ankle tackle unless they were trying to purposely twist their ankle and break it.

I liked a comment Joe made when at the University of Alabama. His friend said "the girls in the sorority are really talking trash about you." Namath answered "at least they're talking about me"

The officiating in the NFL is getting worse year by year. The inconsistency from crew to crew is explicable.


They need to go to full time referees and train all off season.
