Yes, the company knew it was safe according to the government.

And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.

Anyone can be sued at any time for any reason or for no reason.

    This is a shakedown.

Many of the lawsuits against the pharmaceutical companies are being pursued by individual states that have expended millions in taxpayer dollars dealing with drug addiction and drug overdoses directly related to these prescription drugs. Is that a corrupt shakedown?

Obviously Purdue's drugs were very addictive. Legalized heroin I believe. Doctor's are not stupid, so one must ask...who wrote all these prescriptions, day after day after day after day. Kind of like going into tent on Ventura Beach in California to see a so called 'pain' doctor to get a medical marijuana card.

If you read back, I haven't excused the doctors. At some point they were well aware of the addictive properties of these drugs.

Dr, at every point, which by no means excuses Purdue, the doctor's who prescribed knew all along. Question is, who were these doctors who prescribed. Or did this whole thing become a Chinese fed Fentanyl black market drug smuggling crisis? Just putting that out there for thought.

Why can't a pharmaceutical company be held responsible for their product?
They can if it can be proved by a preponderance of the evidence that they committed some sort of wrong. In the case of Big Tobacco it was knowingly suppressing evidence that their product caused cancer.
