Yeah, I forgot about this. Is it even possible to reconcile it in a positive light? I don't know because I'm not that smart.

It seems He is referring to the devil, Satan.

Was He serious or just really pissed off, which occasionally He got.
He was referring to anyone who didn't accept him. He was using hyperbole. roadmaster translates freely.

Jesus' primary concern was holding together their Faith in one God and uniting them at a time when Judaism was coming apart at the seams and dissolving into various cults and sects, I guess, and that's how he did it. He said, the heck with all that, just believe in me.

That's how I heard it anyway.
I don't know where you get that. The Jews had allowed corruption in but that didn't make them wrong.

Myth. I always love that. There is science, free of the unknown. We just believe it.

Where does the universe end. What's beyond the end?

How did the universe begin? From what?

    Where did matter cone from?

Science may speculate on such matters, but ultimately it does not seriously try to explain them. The one thing Science does not do that Religion does is to invoke the supernatural.

Sure they do. They don't speculate on anything. The Big Bang is a fact, they say. They claim everything they say is true. Science doesn't have any explanation.

Yes, and that was foremost the Jews. He was trying to save them from themselves, I guess you could say -- Gentiles too, but their case was different. I think roadmaster's post is completely valid to the extent I understand it.

Well, I didn't say it made them wrong but untenable. What Judaism was trying to escape was the complex Eastern mysticism from which it rose, I guess. That mysticism, I understand, made Heaven about impossible to attain, as it does in Hinduism today. Yes?

But so Judaism was splintering into sects and cults, as I said, and apparently slipping back into the very thing it was trying to escape, owing to whatever it was about mysticism they found binding or impeding.

The problem was solved by Jesus, and it's no coincidence, I understand, that the New Testament excludes writings of Eastern mystic content. It was a conscious choice to do that. There are none. Some of those writing are around, just not in the NT.

Mmm ... well, at some point the corruption has to ruin whatever it is it is corrupting. Yes? But you don't really need to go there.
