I think the basis for Japans public statement , is that they prefer to see solid empirical evidence to justify any major US military attack on Iran , and regard posturing innuendo from hawkish politicians to be totally inadequate........more so considering the debacle of events by the hamfisted Bush administration that led to the invasion of Iraq.

Common sense contradicts that.

There is another possibility. Iran constitutes the biggest threat to Israel. It would be a move in line with the Israeli method of sometimes getting America to fight it's wars. Example, Israel attacks the Arabian oil facilities using Iranian made drones and missiles. America attacks and destroys Iran. Israel no longer has a major problem in the Mideast. Jest sayin...
