Why the Electoral college should be preserved

Why the Electoral college should be preserved

This is a good article that counters the democratic argument for doing away with the Electoral College. Why? Because we are not a pure democracy and that is a good thing.

You have to read it; I am not going to cut and paste because I couldn't do it service. I will just say that if we eliminate or somehow nullify the electoral college, the United States will cease to exist. It will turn into something else. Something worse.

Its undemocratic nature is precisely why it must be preserved.

The masses can be unreasonable. Although lately they are not taking the bait and running with the current political fade / coup. That is a plus for democracy.

It is "not" a good thing for our voice to not count. When the corrupt 1% get to decide what is right for our nation, we are brought to ruin. The founders had ideals, and honor, the 1% do not. But many of the people of our nation do have some of that honor in them.

When the 1% are in charge we are led to war for profit, destruction of our lands. Keep them in charge, with the final say, and we will continue to witness the decline of our nation, and the world for that matter.

I disagree with the electoral college. It was made for a different time.

Most certainly it could be updated for our current times, and we could do away with the abuses of it, in the least.

This has absolutely nothing to do with that 1% nonsense.

Why do you disagree with it?

Why do you think Democrats want to get rid of it?

Up until a little over a hundred years ago, U.S. Senators were not popularly elected, but were chosen by state legislatures. I'm quite sure there were doomsayers in those days predicting the end of the world if the 17th Amendment was passed and ratified, but somehow that didn't happen.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard

That act was wrong, just another example of growing federal power over state's rights. So, yes, it did happen but you, being the lefty liberal you are, applaud that change.
