    Racist Exam Questions?

On the surface, this article appears to be about race, but if you read carefully, you'll find out it's really about the public school system.
    https://townhall.com/columnists/walt...tions-n2553173

I found this interesting because just yesterday, we were discussing the sentences of the parents who paid to have their children's SAT scores changed.

A claim is made that the standard written test given to police officer applicants is biased against blacks. When the academic levels of blacks is compared to whites, this may be a factual claim. At least in Baltimore.

The point the author is trying to make, however, is that while extraneous circumstances may negatively affect black students disproportionately, teachers should not award diplomas if the students don't actually earn them. What's happening to these black students isn't too far from what the wealthy cheating parents did, which is made it appear as though the student was more advanced than he/she actually was.

My personal opinion about the police officer test is that a high level of writing skills isn't a prerequisite to being a good officer. I'd rather see mental and emotional tests that indicated how an applicant would react in a stress-type situation. I don't care if they misspell a few words or use incorrect grammar.

Back to public schools. I'm not a fan.

I worked in an alternative High School that was a trailer park on the grounds of a College. I headed the security detail.
For those that dont know Alternative High Schools are the new reform schools, they are the last stop for students that have demonstrated such bad behavior that they cannot go to regular public schools.

To cut this short, I watched for 3 yrs every student recieve a high school diploma. Im talking students out of 180 day school year showed up less than 15 days. Im talking students we had to subdue and call the police on, students we caught with coke, meth and crack and heroin. We caught students in the process of raping other students, sexual assaults often..etc etc etc.

The head of the school was considered the pre eminent expert on alternative schooling. He was supposedly reknowned for it. He was heralded for his success rate graduating last chance students

I asked him man to man why he thought it was a good idea to just give every student a diploma. His answer was to give them a chance. I asked a chance at what, he didnt answer me and changed the subject.

They have not figured out yet, a piece of parchment does not equal an education.
it is just a piece of parchment.

A Turkish Naval officer I knew told me they had some Iranian students attend their Naval Academy.
While they were there, they partied, raised hell, did drugs, and screwed anything with a pulse.
Upon graduation their parchment said..." attended training at...."

Sounds to me, from reading the OP article, that the DoJ wants police applicants to play tee-ball.

Getting INTO college is not the same thing as COMPLETING college.
They may lower admission requirements, but calculus is still calculus.
...and no matter what degree they seek, all students have to write well above average.

That is, unless they are a Journalism major. All requirements have been dropped for that one.

Thats not necessarily all true, colleges have been pushing along Lazy listless and dumb collegiate sports stars forever and there is certainly professors that give away higher grades to some than other as well as passing grades.

Education is not on the level

I admire the work of the police , security , social workers and anyone else that has to deal with the underbelly and dregs of society every single day. Ive had my share of problems like the 110-120 traffic tickets I've accrued in my life and When I got drunk and crashed into a tree across the street. That's on me but ive changed my ways.
