It is certainly not something that I would want to do.

    Enjoy the photos.

We used to have a WWII sub here. I went through it once. I still don't know how they could do thirty patrols in them.

That was faintly reminiscent. I served four years on subs, but they were WWll diesel/electrics. I was an engineer and I have the bad ears to show for it.
My era submariner never had the amenities of today's sailors. The food was always good and you could help yourself a steak iof you wanted to cook it after hours. The pay was much better, comparatively, because we were paid 50% extra for hazardous duty then plus 20 % for sea duty so our pockets would always jingle...and when ashore the ladies always looked for those dolphins over your cigarette pocket because it meant money. That was great then, at 19 years old.
Today, I could think of better ways to have spent it.
My era in subs was 1946 to 1950. I would do that again. The camaraderie was the same as it is today, from what I read.
We are even friendly with ex German U-Boat sailors because we were all submariners. Those guys took some terrible losses.
Well, just thought I would add my two cents because you got my memory juices flowing for a moment.

That is the way I feel with the airborne community. Give me a parachute and let me get out of the plane, onto the ground, and on my feet. Where I have some measure of control. I would not do well in a sub.

    That's understandable...I don't like flying.

I toured one once myself. I have no idea how anyone could mentally survive in a sub. Thank God I'd be declared to Bozo to ever serve in one.

Oh Cotton, it's not as big a deal as you think. As long as you are not claustrophobic.

Once I realized I couldnt just walk out of the sub I would go berserk. Id be a 5150 or a section 8 or whatever they call it. The sub would come to shore with me strapped to the outer hull.

300 men go to sea. 150 couples return.
