They can try that crap but a woman alone with kids has every right to grab a gun in her own house hearing someone walking outside. She has a right to protect herself and her kids just as much as he does.

The media likes to play these race games and I am sick of them. People need to picture their mom, daughter, sister, themselves ect in the house. We don't know all the facts yet and I am not trying to crucify the cop, there may be more facts coming out but I would be furious right now if that were one of my kin.

I can't say what role race played in this tragic incident, however the video is pretty clear in showing that the police officer failed to identify himself and shot before any human being could react to his command to “Put your hands up! Show me your hands!”. The officer could clearly see a child standing near the woman. The police chief has already stated that the officer breached police protocol, which should have included knocking at the front door. All that remains to be seen is whether the department should have known that this officer was unfit for duty and whether or not the department's protocols are insufficient, inappropriate or often not followed.

I appreciate your sense of fairness with regard to booking photos. I know you mentioned it in another thread as well. And you are correct. In those circumstances, people are not going to be all happy-smiley with an Instagram or Facebook photo finish.

However, and however unfair this may be.. I look at the shape of their heads and eyes, how high or low their ears are on their heads and so on and I make a judgment that they aren't winners of the genetic lottery.

Start convicting these guys of murder and this will stop. The legislature and the so called justice system are just as culpable for these murders as these cops are.

Did the officer catch a glimpse of her, see she was black, and immediately think that meant she shouldn't be in the home?

I'm not saying that was the case, but would he have had the same knee-jerk reaction had he seen a willowy blonde?

Probably not. I have avoided pointing at that elephant in the room because I would be accused of advancing a racist agenda.
