Hunter Biden steps down from Chinese private equity board, promises no foreign work if Joe wins election

I don't think Hunter will need to avoid foreign work after 2020.

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, says he’ll stand down from doing any foreign work if his dad is elected president in 2020.

Hunter Biden has been in the middle of a storm of controversy over his dealings as a board member on Burisma, one of Ukraine’s largest private gas companies, led by President Trump and Rudy Giuliani,

Trump reportedly asked the president of Ukraine personally to investigate the Bidens, and made a similar request publicly of China.

In a statement issued by his lawyer Sunday morning, Hunter Biden announced he’ll step down from the board of BHR (Shanghai) Equity Investment Fund Management Company, a Chinese private equity firm that claims to manage about $2.1 billion in investments. Biden insisted he has earned no money from his role and said he paid about $420,000 in October 2017 to buy a 10% equity position in the company.

If the Bidens think this was a conflict of interest now, it certainly was a conflict of interest when Joe was Vice President.

I would like to restate that I am against these sorts of ethics rules that force businessmen to renounce their businesses in order to be a politician. I have made that point clear with regards to the claims that Trump is violating the Emoluments Clause. What should happen is 100% transparency with regards to the business interest, and zero tolerance for the abuse of political power, like Joe telling Ukraine that I will be here for 6 more hours and you are not getting the money ($1B) unless that prosecutor is fired.

All of these people on capital hill think this way. If Biden were honest he say to us "I spent my life serving" therefore I am entitled to take a little and should be paid.

This is the logic used and how they all get rich. This is also why they basically don't report each other. They right to rules to provide cover for taking money and on how they abuse campaign funds. It crosses party lines. This is a pact among thieves. If he didn't run for President this wouldn't even be known.

BTW the dems called Ukraine and other governments in to dig up dirt on Trump. They are now complaining about exactly what they did. Welcome to the swamp!
I am tired of everyone fighting with each other. This is all by design.

Apparently when Hillary hires a hit man (law firm) then everything is okay. She is innocent.
Hillary or her law firm that she paid for the act, paid a foreign spy to dig up information on Trump. That is well known and confirmed. When they received the report then they knew the sources were Russian.

And the Steele dossier wasn't a campaign violation even though it was paid for to influence the campaign. Because Hillary did it. Not Trump. See my thread about campaign finance where I demonstrate the stupidity of all of this. The left has done something (Steele Dossier), gotten caught, and then claim that Trump is doing something- the exact same thing that they did and it is impeachable.

I think most Americans have caught on by now.

It is an old trick of the Democrats. Blame Republicans of whatever you get caught doing. Bill Clinton and the NY Times ran a smear campaign against Bush Sr claiming he had an affair to attempt to offset Bill's known affairs.
