I grew Tabasco peppers as well and they pack some heat but the jalapenos are mild. Big difference from last year. Still, they have a nice flavor so I've been eating them.

Apparently jalapenos need to be stressed to get hotter. Who knew? Clearly they had a very kind growing season. Anyway, you can mix the mild jalapenos with the hotter tobascos and make a couple of jars of hot pickled peppers. Yum. Plus, they are pretty easy to make.

Yet I still managed to get 24 qts and 50 pts of Italian seasoned base and green beans, respectively.
I even had a maple tree take root near the garden which I just transplanted yesterday. Now, I can decimate it (the garden) and get it ready for next year.
I get powdery mildew on the squash and this year some rust on the tomatoes. The squash production was held to about 30 but there were plenty of tomatoes and cabbage.

Did you grow anything else in your garden this year?
Thanks. I tried some other solutions but it was too late. My understanding is that these treatments are better as a preventative than a cure.

Oh, say it isn't so. One should not be buying their veggies from a big box store! Between synthetic chemical fertilizers, and harsh pesticides (possibly containing neonicotinoids) they likely haven't been given the best of treatment, allowed to go excessively dry then drowned by overwatering. Makes for an unstable, relatively unhealthy plant.

Give me a hint where you are generally at, and I'll see if I can't find a better resource for you. NOVA is a large area.

So my fall has been filled with cabbage rolls, boiled dinners and lots of coleslaw.
I too closed it down and started the process to get it ready for next spring. Next year I’m going to end the practice of planting corn. Next year only beans, peas, onions, potatoes, radishes and a few tomatoes. Maybe some pickling cucumbers too.

I'm going to plant less next year. I overplant because I have limited space but when the mildew hits it spread like the plauge.
