Of course even I, who has never heard a shot fired in anger, knows that denying assets to the enemy is simply standard practice.

While it's true that US forces will purposefully destroy equipment and fortifications when in retreat or other when it's the only tactical choice. However, I haven't heard of them doing it during a voluntary and planned withdrawal.

It seems like the withdrawal was either poorly planned and executed, or the consequences of the withdrawal weren't fully understood.

Alternatively, it costs less to destroy some things in place than it does to move them.

I think we all remember ISIS sporting around in American tanks doing donuts and showing off in the streets under Obama. Keep in mind, ISIS took all this stuff under Obama rule.
