Most people think that with the signing of the German surrender on May 8, 1945 Germany's government ceased to exist. Believe it or not the Nazi German Government, under the leadership of Grand Admiral Karl Doenitz still existed in Flensburg until May 23, 1945 at which point the allies called a meeting and at the meeting informed Doenitz that as of that day, the German government ceased to exist for all intents and purposes of operations and they were all arrested as prisoners of war. Prior to that point if you were to visit Flensburg and the immediate surrounding area, you'd see German soldiers fully armed marching though town and the Nazi battle flag flying above the government buildings as though no surrender had taken place.

The German government was officially dissolved on June 5, 1945

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

I was always uncomfortable with these military tributes. I prefer to fly under the radar. But I get that they are good for the nation.

I understand that. But as a civilian its very difficult to express the degree of gratitude that is felt. Its sometimes the best i or we have to offer...

So am I and I never served in the military. Some of it makes me cringe it's so sappy.

It's never too late for you to join a nice neo-Nazi militia.

You never served in the military? Then why do you have that "veteran" symbol over your avatar?

Let me add a statistic on the same order of incredulity Cotton:
Near the end of the war in Europe, U-boat crews were going on war patrols...knowing that only one out of six boats that departed would return.
