Problem solved. You are no longer worth only minimum wage.
As I recall, this is pretty much what the majority of economists predicted a few years ago - although most of those who saw the layoffs coming also expressed the belief that the loss of employment for some would be offset by the increased prosperity of those remaining in the workforce. It appears that optimism was unfounded.

They arent failing, they are cutting employees totally and cutting back on their hours and benefits. Fulltimers with health benefits go to part time with no benefits.

Home Depot, Lowes, walmart, no longer have floor floaters, to answer questions and direct people to products, those positions gone, if you have a return expect to wait and if your in walmart wait forever instead of 3 and 4 return clerks, they have 1 or 2.

Supermarkets have more than half their checkouts closed, save on employees GET in line, walmart, more than half closed, check yourself out.

They are all taking advantage of delivery companies, where they give them a fee you give them a fee and they pick the orders and deliver them and Walmart can cut more employees, but not only walmart all the supermarkets here have it.

Crepitus, im all for workers making a decent wage but it cant be too high for unskilled labor

Theres a push in fla for 15.00 min wage, the liberals are trying to get it on the ballet, thats how fla works, if they get enough to get it on the ballot then if they people votes yes, it becomes law.

I was talking to my landscaper the other day, I complimented the work of one of his helpers. He said I started this business cutting 2 lawns. I know have 94 lawns plus landscaping, plus weed control etc. I employ 4 people 2 full time, 2 part time. If they raise the min wage to 15.00, I will have to immediately shed the 1 partimer and 1 full timer and scaled the work I do back. I dont make 60.00 an hour to pay them when they are all working at once.

He said there will be lots of people unemployed

I recently was expressing my dislike for my local wall mart converting all but a couple of its check out stands to self scam . I don't like it.
I was in line to check out at the time and a wall mart supervisor herd me comment that it would cost jobs . She said no it wont they made places for all the cashiers in the store on the floor or in shipping and reciving etc. I asked her when those people leave will wall mart still rehire for those positions . It was like dropping a iron anvil on her head.

But the biggest crush is the push for robotics to totally replace human labor and its happening across the board and MUCH FASTER than anyone thought it would happen.

The retail chain Target decided to increase its minimum wage because that’s the flavor of the week for liberals. It’s one of the silver bullets that the Left thinks will raise the standard of living for workers.

In reality, it screws over workers, establishment close rather than deal with extra overhead and accelerates the trend towards automated assistance.

Yes, robots are probably going to take over a lot of the workload that’s currently occupied by minimum wage labor. In Seattle and New York, you see how this policy has played out. It’s predictable in how this policy is just a failure. The wage increases and then hours are cut, which leads to less take-home pay. So, when workers at the retail giant started complaining, it’s not like we didn’t warn you.

Two years ago, Target (TGT) said it would raise its minimum wage to $15 an hour by the end of 2020. The move won praise from labor advocates and put pressure on other companies to also move to $15.

But some store workers say the wage increases are not helping because their hours are falling, making it difficult to keep their health insurance and in some cases to pay their bills.

CNN Business interviewed 23 current and former Target employees in recent months, including department managers, who say hours have been scaled back even as Target has increased starting wages. Many of these workers say the cuts, which come as Target's business is in its strongest position in more than a decade, have hurt them financially. CNN Business agreed to withhold the last names of several of the current employees and the city where their store is located so they could speak freely.

"I got that dollar raise but I'm getting $200 less in my paycheck," said one, Heather, who started in November at a Florida store working around 40 hours a week. She's now below 20 some weeks, she said. "I have no idea how I'm going to pay rent or buy food."

Time for workers to organize and bargain collectively for their terms and conditions of employment instead of having the government set their wage scales.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.
