Mexico has been at the mercy of criminals for a very long time - I can't say that the drug cartels have existed on such a massive scale for the last 50 years. I don't think they want to be the 51st state. The Mexicans that I know are proud of their heritage and all things being equal, would have rather been able to remain in Mexico to fulfill their economic dreams.

So, they're quitters.

You can not condone all you want, but a significant proportion of the population will always seek recreational drugs. They always have, throughout history even during the most oppressive times. People will stop turning drugs and alcohol when they are truly happy.

We could try going into Mexico and killing all the Cartels. It might not work but it would be worth the try. It would also keep the people out of my country.
