I was at camp Hovey, B co 1st of the 23d. 1985-86. We did a rotation on GP Ouelette in the winter of 1986. We had to deal with “Singing Sam”. You probably never heard of him. I was a squad leader. Second squad, second platoon. I had the best team leaders in the company. Best job in the army.
I was in C Co 5-20 at Ft Lewis as part of the 25th division when I retired. Then we were light infantry. I retired as we were preparing to transition into a striker brigade transferring to 2ID.
The last time I was in Korea I was the NCOIC of G-5 / CMO. 97-98. I stayed on Camp Casey. That job was incredible. I had more fun than any soldier should be allowed to have.
I worked closely with an O-5 who was in charge of the JAG unit on Camp Casey. I don’t remember his name. He was awesome. I was banging one of his female Captains. She wore me out. My first line supervisor was a Captain. He called her “the beast”. He was right.
