I used to think that until I got one. Now, I'll never go back to a PC.

I don't see the reason to pay a perineum for Apple. I got my desk top in 2011 for around $800 I believe and it works fine. When I replace it with something knew both together would equal the cost of a lower end Mac.

I've had the same Mac for over ten years. Not one problem, ever.

I know I got lucky with this machine. Most IBM clones never make it as long as this one.

Had a Dell Vostro mini tower get whacked from a lightning strike just before Labor Day. I'd had it for almost 10 years. The EMP fried the main board. I bought a refurbished one on eBay for $100. Moved my HDD into it, booted up and after a few "found new hardware" updates and reboots, I'm back in business. Nice clean pc, looks like it was an extra or a backup pc in some business environment.

My at home pc on Windows Vista turned 10 years old this year. A little wonky needing refreshes sometimes but runs fine otherwise. My work PC is what I use most and my IT Geek gives me the latest everything.

You get sound from another source you don't have anything wrong with the computer. You can check for new drivers at Microsoft or he manufacturer. That, or toss it.
