    Life in Florida

Beside warm winters and no income tax ine of the things I enjoy a lot is all the fresh fish. I live a short drive from port Canaveral.
There are several fish markets locally and I know a few fishermen at the port.
my favorites are grouper and triple tail along with rock lobster and local shrimp.
I enjoy other fish like cod and Salomon of course but I have had lots of fish that were caught the same day they were caught.

On top of that we have world class resorts great fishing hunting. Tons of things to do . great gun policys and a diverse population and beautiful women .

Be careful of Grouper, theres more fake grouper sold in fla than actual grouper, I dont know what triple tail is to be honest but there is no cod or salmon caught in fla, they are imported, shrimp on the west coast I find to be small.

Is there state land for hunting or do you have to own the land or know the owner?

Sure, bob...but I mean your state bird is one of these.

Oh, excuse me, my error...that thing ATE your state bird.

Seriously, except for the humidity, some of the wildlife and the occasional hurricane I can see where someone could become attached to Florida. When I was stationed in Jacksonville, I was talking with a young priest who'd come over from Ireland, and after living in Florida for awhile he said, "It's sort of the country-western version of California, isn't it?"

I certainly envy you the access to fresh fish. Here in Arizona - not so much.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard

"Only a rank degenerate would drive 1,500 miles across Texas and not eat a chicken fried steak." - Larry McMurtry

I lived in Jacksonville from 1958 to 1964, moved back to New Orleans, went in the Navy, went to the University of Maryland (my parents lived in Pasadena MD so I used their address to get state residency). Stayed in Baltimore until 1977 and moved back to Jacksonville. In 2006 moved to Del Rio TN, which I sincerely loved but moved to Ocala because of my wife's parents and here I am, back in Florida.

The only good thing I can say about Florida is the warm winter weather. However, that does bring out the hordes of nesting snowbirds who clog the highways, grocery stores and better restaurants. Like elitist Yankees everywhere they look down on us Floridians and believe us to be their servants.

I stay away from the big cities like Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville and Tampa now. They are no different from NYC, Baltimore or Washington DC, crowded, dirty, dangerous. I will say Florida tends to be more conservative than progressive but that is changing as more and more "immigrants" take over the state. Sometimes I feel like a stranger in a strange land.

    I like the Keys.
I am tired of everyone fighting with each other. This is all by design.

Two of my grand-daughters and all of my 5 greats live there. They love it. They're in Melbourne.
