The biggest problem with Desert One was that each branch wanted their part of the action and the Commander in Chief didn't have the fortitude to stand up and resist them.

The morale of the US military was then at an all time low. He wanted everyone to share in glory.

Richard Marchako was on staff at the Pentagon during the planning of Desert One. He warned the brass that their plan was too risky. After the failure, the senior Naval admiral cut him loose and allowed him to create Seal Team Six.

The commander of Delta COL Beckwith also was upset with the planning of the operation. He warned president Carter that there were too many moving parts to the operation. His warnings were ignored.

True. All the Special Operators were punching flairs in warning. Beckwith was actually on the mission, right?

Its totally plausible that U.S. Forces in launching the attack, would load excavating equipment in helicopters in case Baghdadi ran into a tunnel and blew himself up anticipating they would have to dig up body parts to confirm that it was Baghdadi through the DNA Kits and Baghdadi's DNA which they also brought along ... all in about 6 hours ...

The left will want to make this a political goat rope. Anything to not give credit to Trump. Or to give him any type of victory.
