But we always toss food out if we are not going to eat it. They love peanut butter sandwiches. They like most food but wont touch celery or carrots, strange. I even put some eggs out once some boiled some raw and they ate every drop. My racoons love the apples. I cut them up and toss them out if they start to get too old. I am shocked your racoons ignored the apple. Maybe your not the only one feeding them? I did try to put out some cracked corn for them, they ignored that. They are spoiled.

We (me and my old man) had went on vacation for over a week some months ago and the racoons left. They must have gotten really hungry while we were away. About a month later they showed back up with some babies. I had told my old man, we shouldn't start feeding them again. But he said it wasn't possible to look them in the face and not feed them. He's right, so we are now feeding about 7 of them. I never took pics of the babies but they are really adorable. They were so small when they first showed up, and they would sit next to the food pile grab some and lay on their backs while eating it. They are pretty darn cute, and playful.

Holy crap, JAP...that looks like MEOW MIX!
I feed mine the same exact thing.
Those 30 pound bags are kinda heavy aren't they?

LoL you sure do know your cat food. It is Meow Mix. Ha ha ha. I have switched to a different kind. I now feed them one called special kitty for outdoor cats. It is a 45lb bag heck yeah it is heavy. What spoiled critters. They look as healthy as a pet cat, and they are fat like little bears now. :)

No shame....those critters have a tough enough life.
No shame at all making things a little easier for them.

During a cold snap I went outside looking for Sonny kitty, and when I peeked in the kitty house there was a opossum all curled up and warm in there.

    You sadistic bastid...

My wife is totally terrified of the jungle behind our house, but DOES take the cat food out before the sun goes down religiously every day to feed the raccoons.

When i called her in and showed her this pic you posted, she said she won't even do that now.
She also said she will probably have nightmares tonight.

So now i have yet another ranch chore to added to my list.

    Thanks.

That explains why I go through so much cat food. Lol. Guess the racoons aren't the only ones dining. Maybe I should leave some clothes out, he looks like he could use some.

I go outside in the middle of the night by myself all the time to feed the racoons. I never feel afraid. The racoons are keen animals. If they are surrounding me while I put the food out, I know I am safe. They wouldn't be standing out in the open if there was danger.

It was really strange for them to not come out. For a second there I thought hey, should I be standing out here, Lol? If the Racoons are too afraid to come out then what the heck am I doing out here?

I put the food out, it took a while but they did come out. I watched from the window. They were totally skittish, and kept looking all around them. One even went on guard while the others ate. Normally they eat every last drop of food till it's gone, they don't mess around. But not tonight. They only ate just a little bit and went back into hiding.

I suppose it could be a bear or a mountain lion. I'm leaning towards Big Foot personally. I do live in Big Foot country, Lol.

    BIG FOOT ATE MY GRANNY!

But he did leave a nice tip! LOL!
