SNL has never pulled any punches with people who a lot of their critics, i.e., people who never watch the show, probably assume are untouchable. Darrell Hammond popped up on the show the week before last still doing a smirking, libidinous Bill Clinton. Whoever the President happened to be at the time has always taken the brunt of the lampooning; if they've focused on Trump more than anyone previously, it's clearly because he makes himself such a huge and consistent target.
