I haven't studied this legally. These rights things are messy. If someone is legally a female (although chromosomally a male - or vice versa) what are that individual's rights insofar as sports goes. I am a civil rights guy and try very hard to support the rights of those even when I don't like the outcome. I supported the right of the Nazis to march in Skokie though I loathe the Nazis and their message. I don't know the answer here, the courts will have to sort this out. They will eventually.

Agree. I also agree with those who suggest that applying this proposed change in the law to school sports teams would have a very bad effect on girl's and women's sports and those who play them. The changes themselves are good and even necessary, but some way to limit their negative impact on female sports competitions has got to be found, and that way will almost certainly have to come from the courts.

The answer is very simple. If you were born a male, you compete against males. If you were born a female, you complete against females. Alterations made to your body are not taken into consideration.

I do get the legitimate concerns that trans athletes born male can have physical advantages in sports. However, they are such a tiny minority and claims that they will destroy girls sports is hyperbole.

The notion that boys will pretend to be trans just to win against girls is laughable. Just as the irrational fear that they'll pretend to be trans to assault girls in the bathroom is.

I understand that you don't like the idea that fear motivates some people's political views, but it does. Some people are more influenced than others by the fear of change, the unknown, ambiguity and differing values.

While it's true that trans people in sport is a complex issue and fairness is a legitimate concern, but with regards to the overall transsexual issue, I think you'll find you're on the wrong side of history.
