Post Riches from Rags -- Before there was recycling, there was the rag trade.

Riches from Rags -- Before there was recycling, there was the rag trade. My dad was a rag nut. Everything had to become a rag. His old army duffle bag hung in the basement and was filled with rags. My wife remembers some guy that plied the streets of Cleveland screaming 'paper-rags' or something like that, gathering rags.

Interesting story of the business of 'rags'. Naturally, like most of my threads, I marked this one 'tfp' to keep the trolls away.

I've tried for a couple of years to find some place where I can drop off unusable, torn or stained clothing, blankets, etc., for recycling, without success. I hate to see things like that go into landfills, but can't connect with anyone locally to donate them for recycling.
