Does anyone really believe Biden is corrupt?

Biden’s actions in Ukraine reflected the goals of U.S. policy at the time as well as the international community including the E.U. and the IMF among others.

The reason we wanted that prosecutor fired was because he was NOT doing any investigations of corruption. Not because he was.

The truth is that the republican focus on Biden is meant as both a distraction from the inquiry into Trump’s probable corruption AND an attempt to cast Biden himself as corrupt. It’s underhanded. It’s cynical.

It lowers all future political discourse to the level of mud slinging contests. Worse, it prevents the disqualification of truly corrupt politicians because it will no longer be possible to tell who is really corrupt. He is? She is? Both are? Worse still, it will force otherwise honest politicians to engage in actual corruption because it will be too disadvantageous not to. This will be the legacy of Trumpism unless voters show him the door in 2020.

Perhaps. In my business if there's even an appearance of impropriety it's improper. This benefitted his son so there's an appearance of impropriety. He should have stayed out of all of it.

I haven't read the impeachment issues yet. I will, but I haven't yet. What I have gleaned is that Trump wanted to make sure that the Ukraine helped the US in the investigation of the Russian hoax - and asked them to cooperate with Barr. Shouldn't that be the goal of the United States? Many of us believe that the Russian thing was a hoax perpetrated by D's out to get Trump. Shouldn't we find that out - one way or the other? What's wrong with the USA pushing the Ukraine for assistance? Having said that, to me there's an appearance of impropriety by Trump getting involved b/c of Biden as the one that could potentially be hurt. Trump should have let Barr do it -- and maybe that's what he was doing by asking the Ukraine to cooperate with Barr in investigating all of this?

Again, I haven't followed the impeachment thingy so I could be all wrong on this.

Biden used his influence to put his son in a position to make huge sums of money working in a field in which he had no marketable skills. Then he used American foreign policy to keep him there. That is indeed a form of corruption.

As usual the left does try to do all they can to change up history, and avoid reality at the same time.

Joe Biden Repeatedly Asked Federal Agencies To Do What His Son’s Lobbying Clients Wanted

When do 'coincidences' become sheer corruption?

While serving as senator of Delaware, Joe Biden reached out discreetly to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) to discuss matters his son Hunter Biden’s firm was then lobbying for, according to government records Goodman gathered.

As presidential candidate, Joe Biden waves off accusations of “bad optics” related to his son’s business dealings. Yet it’s worth asking, when do the coincidences become simply untenable? There’s an undeniable, repeated, and unseemly parallel between Joe Biden’s political activity and Hunter Biden’s business interest.

When Joe was running our Ukraine policy, Hunter landed at Burisma. When Joe was the linchpin of our China policy, Hunter was busy shoring up investors in Beijing. At its best, the relationship between Joe Biden and his son represents simply the worst of crony capitalism. At its worst, it’s good, ol’ fashioned corruption. Neither seems particularly desirable, and both indicate bad character.....snip~

Revealed: Joe Biden twice used his position as Senator to intervene to boost son Hunter's lobbying.....

Joe Biden privately contacted the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice when he was a senior and influential U.S. senator to discuss issues that his son Hunter’s firm was being paid to lobby on, according to government records.

On at least two occasions, Biden contacted federal departments to discuss issues related to Hunter’s firm’s lobbying clients, according to records reviewed by the Washington Examiner.

Biden’s behind-the-scenes outreach illustrates how his Senate work overlapped with his son’s business interests. Biden has faced scrutiny for taking actions that were perceived to benefit his son’s work, including calling for the firing of a Ukrainian prosecutor and backing policies that helped the Delaware-based credit card industry while Hunter was working for MBNA, headquartered in the state.

Government records show that Biden, who has always insisted he knows nothing about his son's business activities, helped Hunter's work with strategic and highly-specific interventions that could have benefited his son to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars.....snip~

CNN Failed To Disclose Biden Apologist’s Business Ties To Burisma .....

A CNN guest who declared that Joe Biden had done nothing wrong in demanding the firing of a Ukrainian prosecutor failed to disclose his own business relationship with Burisma, a controversial Ukraine company that previously employed Biden's son.

In a recent television interview, CNN brought on a former U.S. diplomat in Ukraine to assert that Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden had done nothing wrong in threatening to withhold U.S aid until a Ukrainian prosecutor was fired. What CNN failed to disclose was that John Herbst, the former diplomat interviewed by CNN anchor Kate Bolduan, had a significant conflict of interest regarding Burisma, the controversial Ukrainian gas concern that was reportedly being investigated by the prosecutor whose firing Biden had demanded.

Herbst currently runs the Eurasia Center for the Atlantic Council, a foreign policy-focused tax-exempt organization that is funded in part by Burisma. According to the Atlantic Council’s web page, Burisma donated as much as $250,000 to the Atlantic Council in 2018 alone.

During his interview with CNN, Herbst claimed that Biden was merely following the lead of various international partners in demanding the firing of Viktor Shokin, the Ukrainian prosecutor general at the time. However, in testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, State Department official George Kent told lawmakers that the international community deferred to U.S. leadership on the matter.

As The Federalist reported last week, Kent told lawmakers that the Obama administration spearheaded the efforts to have Shokin removed from his position as the top federal prosecutor in Ukraine. Kent said international players — namely the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Western nations within the European Union — were deferential to U.S. directives on the matter.....snip~

Yes Biden is corrupt and has been for over 25 years. The leftness cannot change that reality.

And they raise the troubling prospect that U.S. officials may have painted a false picture in Ukraine that helped ease Burisma’s legal troubles and stop prosecutors’ plans to interview Hunter Biden during the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

For instance, Burisma’s American legal representatives met with Ukrainian officials just days after Biden forced the firing of the country’s chief prosecutor and offered “an apology for dissemination of false information by U.S. representatives and public figures” about the Ukrainian prosecutors, according to the Ukrainian government’s official memo of the meeting. The effort to secure that meeting began the same day the prosecutor's firing was announced.

In addition, Burisma’s American team offered to introduce Ukrainian prosecutors to Obama administration officials to make amends, according to that memo and the American legal team’s internal emails.

    The memos raise troubling questions:
1.) If the Ukraine prosecutor’s firing involved only his alleged corruption and ineptitude, why did Burisma's American legal team refer to those allegations as “false information?"
2.) If the firing had nothing to do with the Burisma case, as Biden has adamantly claimed, why would Burisma’s American lawyers contact the replacement prosecutor within hours of the termination and urgently seek a meeting in Ukraine to discuss the case?
Biden has faced scrutiny since December 2015, when the New York Times published a story noting that Burisma hired Hunter Biden just weeks after the vice president was asked by President Obama to oversee U.S.-Ukraine relations. That story also alerted Biden’s office that Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin had an active investigation of Burisma and its founder.

Documents I obtained this year detail an effort to change the narrative after the Times story about Hunter Biden, with the help of the Obama State Department.....snip~

As usual leftists are easily tricked by their own Democrats. This way they don't have to actually use their brain to think for themselves. As Crepitus just validated.

Biden’s son was in a mere advisor position, something that’s common in business. It’s not like picking a socially inept brain surgeon to run the federal housing agency or a slew of other criminals with no experience to run ther cabinet level agencies.

Bidens son wasn't the only American being investigated. Another point the leftness forgot all about.

Hunter Biden’s American business partner in Burisma, Devon Archer, texted a colleague two days after the Times story about a strategy to counter the “new wave of scrutiny” and stated that he and Hunter Biden had just met at the State Department. The text suggested there was about to be a new “USAID project the embassy is announcing with us” and that it was “perfect for us to move forward now with momentum.”

At the time, Shokin’s office was investigating Burisma. Shokin told me he was making plans to question Hunter Biden about $3 million in fees that Biden and his partner, Archer, collected from Burisma through their American firm. Documents seized by the FBI in an unrelated case confirm the payments, which in many months totaled more than $166,000.

Some media outlets have reported that, at the time Joe Biden forced the firing in March 2016, there were no open investigations. Those reports are wrong. A British-based investigation of Burisma's owner was closed down in early 2015 on a technicality when a deadline for documents was not met. But the Ukraine Prosecutor General's office still had two open inquiries in March 2016, according to the official case file provided me. One of those cases involved taxes; the other, allegations of corruption. Burisma announced the cases against it were not closed and settled until January 2017.

After I first reported it in a column, the New York Times and ABC News published similar stories confirming my reporting.

In a newly sworn affidavit prepared for a European court, Shokin testified that when he was fired in March 2016, he was told the reason was that Biden was unhappy about the Burisma investigation.

Shokin certainly would have reason to hold a grudge over his firing. But his account is supported by documents from Burisma’s legal team in America, which appeared to be moving into Ukraine with intensity as Biden’s effort to fire Shokin picked up steam.

Burisma’s own accounting records show that it paid tens of thousands of dollars while Hunter Biden served on the board of an American lobbying and public relations firm, Blue Star Strategies, run by Sally Painter and Karen Tramontano, who both served in President Bill Clinton administration.

Buretta, Painter, Tramontano, Hunter Biden and Joe Biden’s campaign have not responded to numerous calls and emails seeking comment.....snip~
