    Government Bans Ambulance Competition

In another thread I posted that monopolies are created by the government via rent-seeking. Here is a good example:

In my opinion, essential services like police, fire and ambulance shouldn't be run privately for profit.

Would anyone advocate that police services should be privatized and contracted to the lowest bidder?

IOW, turn what's a near-monopoly into an absolute monopoly.

Competition is not just about the lowest bid but about quality and choice.

Do you think the police should be privatized?

Just riding an ambulance can be comically expensive in America. An alternative here isn't a bad thing.

Yes. It's is done, has been done in the past, and worked. Here, read about San Francisco's Private Police Force.

In New York, the volunteers as a rule don't charge the patient anything for their services; you pay when you use a paid crew.

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

No, but I don't believe the government should ban competition in the ambulance industry.
