So we agree. Arts and artists should survive on their own merits.

I don't care whether arts and artists survive or not as long as my tax dollars aren't being spent on it.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

I appreciate art in its various forms. However, government should not be funding starving artists. If one chooses to attempt to support himself through his artistic talents, don't expect taxpayers to bail you out if your work doesn't resonate with the publuc.

In my younger days I was a fairly serious musician and songwriter. Nothing earth shattering, but I was pretty good at it. Ultimately I just didn’t have the right combination of talent and business smarts to make it work in a commercial sense. Like most artists, I had to admit defeat and pursue a different career. I learned to live with it. Why then should I (and many others who failed in the arts) have to fund the career of some other artist who can’t achieve commercial success or find a patron other than government? Grossly unfair in my book.

Most likely people plink at them with their AR 15s

No. They smash them with a baseball bat.

You can thank Reagan for that.

Reagan had no control over the state and county. They made the decision to shut those facilities down in 2003.

What about art and music programs in public schools?
