Alex Cora is next.
Any time you give a man something he doesn't earn, you cheapen him. Our kids earn what they get, and that includes respect. -- Woody Hayes
As stated in Post #3, I don't condone the use of cameras or any other electronic device in "sign stealing".
At the same time, in a way it's ironic that in this day of video replay on virtually every conceivable play on the field, and talk of fully implementing Pitchtrax or some other method of "helping" the home plate umpire get it right on ball and strike calls, such serious punishments should be meted out because the teams and the players themselves sought to utilize cameras to do their jobs better.

The difference is that unless you've got a runner on Second to relay the catcher's signs to the batter or the dugout - which happens, and the batter can be assured of a ball being aimed at his head if it's detected - there is no line of sight between the dugout and the Catcher's hands.
The television broadcast is on a ten-second delay. Even if there were a t.v. monitor in the dugout - which I'm fairly certain is not allowed...if it were, the Manager wouldn't have to call down to the video room to see if he should appeal a call - by the time the dugout relayed what they believed the pitch was going to be to the batter, it would have already been thrown.Originally Posted by Captdon

Actually when you think about it, this story is kind of funny. Beating on a garbage can? Really?
