I was having a conversation with @
FindersKeepers in another thread about the volitility of our politics and how if we don't listen to each other we will never find a way to move forward. It would be a good step if we could restore our nation to the point to where we could listen to one another. I thought this topic was worthy of it's own thread.
What are your ideas on possible ways that we can heal our divide, and find some common ground and try to restore our nation, and end this cold civil war? Please bring forth your best ideas and thoughts. Specifically how can we bring about a peaceful solution that will be beneficial to all.
*Request: Can we try not to fight or name call, it would be nice if we could really discuss this like adults.
Here is the reply and my thoughts that I told FK in the other thread.
I honestly don't know. I think a good step could possibly be a new president, one who is a Republican, who has decency and dignity and upholds the constitution. I am not sure but I am starting to think that could possibly help our nation to heal a little. I would really like for our nation to heal. Not only that but to also reform. We can clearly see that after years of all out brawls on this forum, that all the arguing in the world doesn't bring us any closer to being united, or taking to heart what another person who we disagree with has to say. Honestly it gets us no where. If anything it further divides us and breeds hate. It breeds intolerance. Your fellow man becomes your enemy. This is sad.
My thoughts in the last few days, are if we were to get a Republican president. Who was a pretty decent person, then most of the Trump supporters would be more likely to accept him or her without going all civil war. The democrats may also be able to accept him or her just because it is not Trump. I think it could help to break up the cold civil war that is permeating our nation. Perhaps restore the dignity of our nation.
I myself don't have a party. But I can clearly see from the sidelines that our nation is entrenched in party. It has become a weapon, it is destroying us from the inside out. I would prefer a president without a party. But I know that will never happen. My first concern is the well being of our nation and for all who are in it. There must be a higher goal if we want to see the restoration of our nation. We must be willing to make some sacrifices for the greater good of all. It seems people have become self centered and greedy to the point that they want for their own happiness even if it is at the cost of the rest of the nations happiness. This self centered mindset needs to end. It will be the ruin of all of us.
