Trump's excuses for delaying aid are destroyed

Trump only ever gave two different explanations as to why he withheld the Ukraine aid.
    1. Because he had to make sure there was no corruption in Ukraine
    2. Because Europe was not giving enough to Ukraine
Both of these excuses are provably invalid. Here is why...
    1. In today’s testimony Daniel Goldman pointed out the Ukraine aid was conditioned upon predetermined “anti corruption benchmarks” specified by the legislation. He then said “In May the Department of Defense certified that Ukraine was making the necessary progress to merit the aid."
    2. Since 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea, Europe has been the number one aid contributor to Ukraine. In fact, EU aid nearly doubles that of the united states.

“The European Union is the largest donor to Ukraine, and Ukraine is the largest recipient of EU macro-financial assistance to any non-EU country. The European Union has given, on average, over $710 million (€650 million) per year to the country since 2014—almost twice as much as the United States average. “ ref.

So if his first excuse is no good, and his second excuse is also no good, Why did he hold up the aid?

He's playing with them, because he can. What can they say? He should know where the bodies are buried, he does business with them.

Have you listened to even five minutes of the testimony in either committee, today and last week, let alone thought seriously about it?

If you haven't heard the testimony, you have no informed or important opinion on the subject. All you have is Republican talking points and what you've been told by the REAL partisan hacks.

I watched both the Intel and Judiciary Committee hearings.

There was only one possible conclusion to be drawn from them... Both Schiff and Nadler should have been dragged out by their heels and expelled from the People's House. The only thing I have ever seen even close to those proceedings were film clips from Roland Freisler's courtroom.

Nadler's committee has exposed nothing but opinion. No facts what-so-ever.

The testimony you are talking about is from Adam Schiff's lawyer, who was not even a witness.

One thing I don't like about this forum is it is just constant new posts of all the same stuff. These are the arguments we already heard, knew of, and even discussed on these forums. Why do we need yet another post about them? If you are anti-Trump, you probably believe that the aid was held up to get political dirt on Biden. If you are pro-Trump, you probably believe that President Trump was asking about corruption, which the Bidens were in the middle of potentially, and that Burisma was known to be one of the most corrupt companies in the most corrupt country in Europe. Nothing has changed. Congress has now resorted to putting up their own lawyers to make arguments rather than witnesses for information.

Really? The Ukraine has a corrupt government. The only reason it is the beneficiary of US aid is because it stands between Europe and Russia, so it's useful. It doesn't change the incestuous relationship between Ukrainian and Russian criminal oligarchs and their respective relationships with their governments. Need I mention Trump's plethora of ties to the Ukrainian oligarchy? Anyone who can't get a loan from major commercial banks can get money from the Ukrainian/Russian Oligarchy. Just don't stiff them.
