It’s a guess on my part but I suspect that many Trump supporters are so focused on him that many skipped the mid-terms, which may explain the Dems taking the house at all. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Repubs take it back next fall. If this impeachment gets you down just imagine how amusing the next round of wailing and gnashing of teeth from the left may be if they find out they are completely impotent after all.

At that time we (US) were in the throws of the Mueller investigation. It seemed like every other day we were subjected to the breathless rants of "this is it, the smoking gun" from anonymous leakers, all of which fell to naught. And by virtue of the articles of impeachment introduced this morning, Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress, neither of which relates to the Mueller report, it's dead.

BREAKING: Democrats Officially File Articles of Impeachment, Here are the Charges …..

Flanked by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff and a number of other top Democrats Tuesday morning, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler officially announced two articles of impeachment will be brought against President Trump. The first charge will be obstruction of Congress. The second, abuse of power.

“Today in service to our duty to the Constitution and our country, the House committee introduces two articles impeachment charging Donald Trump with committing high crimes and misdemeanors,” Nadler said.

Democrats claim the abuse of power stems from President Trump’s July 25 phone call with the president of Ukraine about corruption investigations. The obstruction charge, they argue, is justified due to the White House blocking witnesses from testifying. Keep in mind Schiff and Nadler could have gone to the courts to compel witnesses and in a rush to impeach, refused.

“The President used the power of his office against a foreign country to corrupt our upcoming elections. He is a continuing threat to our democracy and national security. At 9 am ET, the House will announce our intent to #DefendOurDemocracy,” Pelosi tweeted earlier in the day.

During the announcement, Nadler also laid out a timeline. The Judiciary Committee will vote by the end of the week on the charges and send them to the House floor for a full vote before Christmas. From there, if enough Democrats vote to pass it, the charges will go to the Senate for a full trial......snip~

LMAO Democrats talking about their duty to the Constitution and the Country.

They have made a mockery out of impeachment all due to being butt hurt that they lost the 2016 election.

It is.....both Schiff and Nadler could have took the matter to court to compel witnesses to come forward. That they didn't show all just how incompetent they actually are.

The Senate Repubs get to call any witnesses that they feel is important to their proceedings. Including Adam Schiff.

Obstruction against what? There was no investigation until they voted on it. No single Congressman has the right to declare and investigation by himself.
After they voted to investigate, then Trump did not block anyone that was not covered under Executive Privilege and Congress did not call them because they knew they would lose in court.

Abuse of Power? You cannot ask that a obvious crime be investigated as President? LOL
Hunter Biden is not running for President. Obama's administration was investigating Trump's people before the election and leaking it to the public in 2016. He asked. He did not demand. He asked for them to "look into" not frame. There was no guaranteed outcome. What was Trumps gain into looking into Crowdstrike and the Ukraine interference in the 2016 election. Hunter Biden was just part of the request of corrupt individuals.
