What is Truth? said jesting Pilate;
And would not stay for an Answer."
- Francis Bacon, Essays; "Of Truth" (1597-1625)
. . .
Lately, there has been what some have described as an "assault on the truth." And, if one can credit the critics and commentators of the times, there might be some truth to this if anything these pundits say holds water in the sieve of "alternative facts."
Pundits aside, it would take a great philosopher to know the truth; and yet the most ordinary persons will take oath to "tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" - which probably comes as close to the truth as may be. At the trial of Jesus, Pontius Pilate asked: "What is truth?" Interestingly, Christ did not answer the question. And in that brief silence - that pregnant pause between thought and action - there is more truth than is said of it.
If "Facts be submitted to a candid world", the truth is generally seen, but seldom heard, and then only rarely believed. Would you know the truth, seek it yourself; for it will take a long time to find someone to tell it to you, and longer still to be convinced of it.
Would you like us to play some of the videos of the many of your sources all saying the same thing at the same time as if orchestrated because we certainly have a lot of them. Tucker Calson plays them on a regular basis to give us all a laugh. They use the same words in the same manner for the same story on the same day. Not a original thought in the group of all these news networks. Then the Democrat Party members repeat them like mocking birds.
So you can claim that Conservatives do the same thing but don't tell us that your side holds the truth or they would not need scripts that they rehearse to say the same things in harmony. You should check out OAN if you want straight reporting even though you may not like the way they lean. I used to enjoy CNN before they made it all about personalities and heavily biased.
It's amazing how liberals can trust government so much that they can advocate a government controlled media over a completely independent free press. This is a fundamental difference between liberals and conservatives.
Liberals advocate more government control, conservatives advocate for more independence from government.
Liberals and conservatives are all of a piece - all are the fools of prejudice. We all bring our own biases and prejudices (our own political philosophy, so to speak) to the public forum. To be disposed one way or the other may depend on many things; but, ultimately, it all depends on only one thing - ourselves. We would all do well to examine ourselves - the validity of our own dislikes and preferences - before we start labeling others.
The real difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals are those that are too liberal for their own good; while conservatives are those that are only liberal for their own good. Either way you want to look at it, neither come out looking very good.
