Most Common Job Types by American County

Just thought this an interesting insight into jobs in America, all the way down to the county level. Data. Make what you will of it.

If you go to Most Common Job Types by American County, you can look up your county in the interactive map.

Here's where I live and it was surprising, not the health part but the social assistance, though I'm not sure what exactly that means and I don't get out much.

Some more data on jobs. It's interactive as well so you can drill down a bit.

Here's another view of how jobs have shifted from the 1950s, Shifts in Job Distribution.

"In the 1950s, almost half of all employed people were either in farming or manufacturing. As you can imagine, work changed a bit over the years. Here’s how the distribution of jobs across occupation groups shifted."
