I had a cat named Smudge once. She was solid white except a blob on her head and streaks down her back. It looked like she had crawled through a pipe so I named her Smudge. She would come sit on my shoulder while I was using the computer. She and my Jack Russell, Molly, would chase each other all over the house. Then she would jump into a basket I had for magazines and the Jack would just sit there waiting for her to jump out. It was like the basket was home base!

Unfortunately, I had a neighbor who didn't like animals and one day Smudge, who never went outside of our yard, just disappeared. I remain convinced he did something with my cat.

I just can’t fathom how anyone can stand to harm animals like that. I feel like a worse person than Adolf Hitler when I accidentally step on my dog’s paw barefoot. And then you have people like the sick $#@! that kept killing and skinning neighborhood cats here in Baton Rouge.

I have cats and am very fond of mine as well, but if you did that unless you were very clever and very lucky you would end up in prison.
