87%? I don't know. I think there's a high percentage, though defining "incompetence" is tough. I see it in my business a lot, though I would not restrict it to men.

I think he makes a good point that while we are attracted to confident figures, confidence and competence don't always go hand in hand.

#1. Regardless of how this guy defines " incompetence"
its a huge leap across the river of faith in the speaker to take what he states as a fact. He probably used the specific number as opposed to an approximation on an attempt to sway the audience into a subconcious determination that "if its that precise it must have been sn in depth study therefore its likely true. Pathological and habitual liars do this often. In fact one way to spot a liar is when their stories or version of an event they were a participant in or witness of becomes more detailed over time.


#2. " 87%" is not the " law of the universe"., the "Pareto Principle" (80/20) is the law of most things from both Social and economic considerations. Howrber, it is the amount of total income tax revenue the top 20% pay. The latter is measurable. Unlike what he says.

#3. If 7/8ths of them are "incompetant" how did they get to be " leaders"?
