I like Bulleit too. I liked Dad's Hat which is from a small distillery in PA.

If peat is neat you must like Laphroaig. It has...shall we say a distinctive flavor.

Actually I'm a tequila and beer snob, but I appreciate good whiskey's. My go to bourbon is Calumet or Woodford Reserve. My favorite Canadian whiskey is Canadian Club.

My life long best friend just gave me a bottle of Lagavulin single malt scotch for Christmas. I promised him I'd wait until Christmas to try it. I've never tried it. In fact I never heard of it before.

Jack o' Diamonds, Jack o' Diamonds and I know you of old
You've robbed my poor pockets of silver and gold
It's a whiskey, you villain, you've been my downfall
You've kicked me, you've cuffed me, but I love you for all
It's a whiskey, rye whiskey, rye whiskey I cry
If I don't get rye whiskey, well, I think I will die
I'll eat when I'm hungry, I'll drink when I'm dry
If the hard times don't kill me, I'll lay down and die
I'll tune up my fiddle and I 'll rosin my bow
I'll make myself welcome, wherever I go
Rye whiskey, rye whiskey, rye whiskey I cry
If a tree don't fall on me, I'll live till I die
Beefsteak when I'm hungry red liquor when I'm dry
Greenbacks when I'm hard up and religion when I die
They say I drink whiskey, my money's my own
    All them that…

My wife and I went with some friends (her best friend and her husband, and two of their girl friends) last November to the Renaissance Faire in Hammond, they had a whiskey tasting that started an hour before the faire closed. It was run by a saucy woman from Scotland, she was awesome. She actually went through the different histories, flavor profiles, and home bases of each whiskey.

They started with Bushmills, it was six altogether. All I remembered was Bushmills, Laphroaig (one of my personal favorites), Tamdhu (another favorite), and some scotch liquor. I wore my family’s clan kilt and didn’t want to risk dirtying it in the porta-potty, so I just hardly drank or ate anything all day. So naturally, by the time we got to the fourth whiskey I was gone As soon as I downed the fourth glass, my wife tapped me out and only let me have sips of the last two from her glasses. Then her best friend’s husband had to help me stumble back to the cars, and we went and got tacos until I was sober and safe to drive us home, lol.

It was fun, and the whiskeys were delicious.
