I don't eat out a great deal, mostly for business and I'm not often impressed but today for lunch I had Strozzapreti alla Genovese with grilled shrimp, shaved zucchini, mint, and basil & pine nut pesto. It was perfetto!
It looked like this, but with jumbo grilled shrimp mixed in:

I loved the texture of the pasta and the shrimp were grilled perfectly. Usually I can't eat that much for lunch, but it was so good that I ate it all. I haven't eaten any dinner because I'm not hungry. This restaurant is very Italian, including all the servers. The food is certainly not cheap, but well worth eating. This sort of review of a meal is very rare for me so I felt the need to share. Now I'm trying to find sources of this type of pasta online so I can make it for myself. Just use ziti pasta.

I don't care for ziti that much. It's really not the same. This pasta is nothing like ziti, which is an extruded tube. The history of strazzapreti is pretty interesting however. The name 'strazzapreti' means priest strangler. It dates from a time in Italy where priests and bishops demanded food from the people (usually poor) and stuffed their faces. The people became so angry that they created a pasta that was so delicious that they hoped the priests would choke to death while scarfing it down. The texture is really different. You have to try an artisinal variety or a fresh version to understand the different mouth feel.
