    Smartify

I am pretty much the opposite of tech-savvy, but I'm getting better. I sometimes see an art print that I find interesting, but have no information about. Sometimes I've been able to identify it by typing a description of it into my phone and doing an image search, but not always. Today I bought a print and the style looked familiar, but an image search came up with nothing helpful. So I googled "art identification app" and came up with Smartify.

A minute later I knew I'd bought a print of Francisco Goya's 'The Captivity is as Barbarous as the Crime" (1815) Very cool.

I just started using a grocery store app (Dillons) and I regularly save $30-$40 per week just by loading digital coupons on my card. It automatically figures the discount at checkout -- no paper coupons required. I never used paper coupons because I didn't want to make folks wait in line behind me while the cashier keyed or scanned each one in.

My other favorite apps are Hyper Focal Pro (figures hyper focal distance for any lens and camera), Google Earth, and my banking app.

I also like Spotify - but a subscription is necessary - because I can listen to any music I want any time.

    I thought everybody recognized that.

I wasn't aware they taught an Art Appreciation class in Ranger school.

Actually, reading further elsewhere, it is also sometimes called "The Little Prisoner". I think the other title is more apt.

One of the oldest art museums in the state is a client of ours. Unfortunately, some of that art stuff rubs off on you and you learn things whether you want to or not.

The Director of Collections has some resource that seems similar to the search engine you were talking about. I have seen him scan an unreadable signature on a painting, run it through his system and come up with the name of the artist. He has uploaded high definition photos of paintings and come back with results based on style, content, and who knows how many other factors. It is pretty high tech. This guy's personal knowledge of art is really expansive. You mention a particular artist to him and he'll go on for hours (if you let him) about the artist's history, life, influences...

Of course if ask him about ballistics or rates of fire of different weapon systems or different types of ambushes or any of the important stuff like that, he just stares at you and stammers.
