When we won our battle for independence, our founding fathers designed a constitution and along with that a mechanism for resolving issues that might crop up over time. One of those mechanisms was the court system which was among other things designed to prevent American's from taking up arms and/or resorting to violence against one another.

While Gamewell and I are pretty much diametrically opposed on the question of gun rights, in this instance he has a good point. In the very unlikely event that a squad of State-appointed "gun grabbers" were out confiscating firearms, they would be doing so with full police powers, and would probably have local law enforcement accompanying them. A point that I've tried to make before in these discussions is simply that, yes, your local sheriff, police chief, etc., might be steadfastly on your side, and all their troops as well, but...you so much as point a gun at a cop - any cop - and you have gone instantly, in the eyes of the law and its agents, from a citizen standing up for his or her rights to somebody who needs to be in a jail cell or a body bag. The cops may be just as sympathetic as hell with your stance - to a point. And if you know cops, you know that I'm right.

Love them or hate them, one thing the democrats are good at is stimulating gun/ammo sales and this cannot be denied.

Nobody wins when it comes to violence, that is a true fact. This is why we have the court system in this country.
